Sue McHugh and her Quartet – perform the music of ‘Rodgers and Hart’

Rodgers and Hart were a famous American songwriting partnership consisting of composer Richard Rodgers (1902–1979) and lyricist Lorenz Hart (1895–1943). Hart was known for his witty, sophisticated, and intricate internal rhymes, while Rodgers provided lush, memorable melodies. This evening – Vocalist Sue McHugh and her Quartet pays homage to their incredible work, performing some of the most recognisable songs from the 20th century.

Anna Vanosi and her Trio

One of the most memorable quotes about Anna is this – ‘She blends smoky jazz classics with vintage Italian music, drawing praise as a “real-life Italian diva” with a voice described as “nectar”. Her recent Edinburgh Fringe Show ‘Italian Jazz Affair’ drew huge praise (and audiences!!) and she was most recently seen performing at Whighams as part of our first-ever Wine & Jazz Festival earlier in the summer. We just couldn’t wait to have her back! She’ll be in great company too, with pianist/arranger David Patrick, as part of the Quartet.

Marjory Morrow and her Quartet 

Another scintillating jazz vocalist, Marjory has been receiving critical acclaim for the breadth, scope, and variety of the songs she performs. A fabulous vocalist with a great sense of swing and timing, she’ll be in great company this evening with her outstanding quartet providing the backing.
