Sunday 25th – 7pm – Boptism – Whighams Jazz Club – Some of Scotlands jazz greats got together a few years ago to form Boptism, a nod in the direction of the early be-bop inspired jazz music which was the hallmark of Miles Davis, john Coltrane, Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie. Led by tenor saxophonist Keith Edwards, the band also features Steve Moore on piano, Ed Kelly on double bass, Donald Corbett on trumpet/flugel and Aldo Morrow on drums.

Sunday 2nd – 7pm – Lorenz Kellhuber – Whighams Jazz Club – German jazz pianist Lorenz Kellhuber is on a short tour of the UK and tonight lands in Whighams. He is considered an extraordinary instrumentalist, composer and improviser. In the Summer of 2014, he became the first German musician to receive first place in the renowned Parmigiani Montreux Jazz Piano Solo Competition from Monty Alexander. In 2016, Lorenz was nominated for the Jazz ECHO as “Newcomer of the Year”. Having released four trio records, his first solo album, “Live at the Montreux Jazz Festival”, came out in October 2017.

Sunday 9th – 7pm – Silver Project – Whighams Jazz Club – The Silver Project keeps the flame of Horace Silver’s vast canon of great work alive and tonight will see this great line-up re-unite for the first time in nearly two years, to bring some great interplay to this fine body of work.
Sunday 16th – 7pm – Stephen Duffy – Whighams Jazz Club – Stephen is a jazz vocalist who really needs very little introduction. A huge supporter of Whighams since our early days, Stephen widely promoted our jazz events on his BBC Radio Scotland ‘Jazz House’ programme. A great performer with an encyclopaedic knowledge of the Great American Songbook, he’ll be in fantastic company tonight in front of our wonderful ‘house’ trio.
Sunday 23rd – 7pm – Sound of Seventeen Big Band – Whighams Jazz Club – Our annual gathering of the fantastic Sound of Seventeen Big Band. Indeed, Xmas would not be Xmas without this terrific ‘wall of sound’ from this great outfit..so come and join our Xmas Party night, with just two days to go before Christmas Day!
