A mainstay of the Scottish Jazz Scene with numerous jazz clubs, festivals, and more regular gigs that you can shake a stick at, this foursome is a total joy! Do not miss this one!
Sunday 17th July – Ali Affleck and her Band – Back in 2011, Whighams was one of the first places Ali performed when she arrived back in Scotland after living in California for many years. We didn’t know then how HUGE she would become on the Scottish (and now International) Jazz Scene, exploring the works of the originators of early years and vintage jazz. Ali remains hugely popular and it’s a delight to have her with us again this evening.
Sunday 24th July – Prune Karlen and her Trio – Swiss songstress, Prune Karlen is another former Edinburgh based singer who is no longer resident here, but we couldn’t resist the opportunity of bringing her back in for a very special performance when we heard she’d be in town!! Fantastic vocalist with a soft-as-velvet lush tone to her voice, she’ll leave you spellbound.

Sunday 31st July – The Whighams Jazz Jam and Open Mic Session – The ever-popular jazz jam and open mic session is back this evening for its once monthly spotlight of what any instrumentalist or vocalist may wish to perform with the house trio. Who knows, as the Edinburgh Fringe beckons, we may get a few visiting folk from the four corners of the globe beating a retreat to the West End to come in to perform with tonight’s house trio led by tonight’s host – Martin Waugh (piano), with Jimmy Taylor (double bass) and Kevin Dorrian (drums)
