Sunday Jazz at Whighams
Our famed jazz club was started back in March 2009 by two friends – local jazz musician Kevin Dorrian and jazz enthusiast Graeme Knox, regularly welcoming a crowd that reaches well into three figures every week. It has become one of the leading weekly jazz club’s in the UK – continually attracting some of the biggest names in jazz from around Scotland, the rest of the UK and Internationally. We’ve featured a raft of styles from the ‘Golden Age’ jazz of the early 20th century, Dixieland, Gypsy Jazz, West Coast, Be-Bop and of course some fantastic re-workings of The Great American Songbook.
A £5 cover charge per person is applicable for Jazz performances. This insures we can continue to support live music on a weekly basis.

Nick Gould hosts our regular monthly jam session. It’s a show designed for YOU to come and perform with the house trio. So come down and enjoy the fun.

The Tenement Jazz band
One of the great pioneers of the resurgence in the trad jazz scene – ‘The Tenements’ have a huge following for keeping that foot stompin’ smokin’ jazz – direct-from- New Orleans – trad jazz alive!! A huge draw at Jazz Clubs and Jazz Festivals up and down the land, They are a must see and a must hear! Do not miss this chance to catch them this evening.

Aki Remally – a tribute to Donnie Hathaway
Two legends for the price of one. Local guitar/vocal hero Aki Remally simply oozes funk n’ soul and tonight pays homage to one of his own heroes – soul legend Donnie Hathaway. His body of solo work he left behind when he died 30 years ago is part of the foundation of American soul music and Aki and his band will take you on a wonderful journey through Hathaway’s back catalogue tonight.

Renée Stefanie & her quartet
It’s been a while since Renée performed at Whighams, so we’re delighted to have her back this evening. She’s not just an excellent jazz singer, but an excellent vocal coach too!! Very much at home in her preferred ‘bop style’ of singing, she has spent time writing her own material. She’s a class act and unquestionably one which will enthral you this evening.

This is a really enjoyable and informal wine tasting where you can compete to see whose palate is the best, or just enjoy the fun. Each wine you will taste blind and have 3 clues to which it can be. This is a great tasting if there are a bunch of you or even just you and a friend.
